iQ Toys is part of the LeftBrain Group of online webstores. LeftBrain Group is a specialist online retail company based in beautiful Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. Other companies in the LeftBrain Group include Baby Universe, I Want That and Gumboot.
iQ Toys was started as a home-based business by Shane & Suzette Loomb way back in 1996. At the time it was one of the first online stores in New Zealand and the first online toy store in NZ. Over the years we have picked up quite a few awards including the Netguide Magazine Award for Best Online Shopping Site (2000), Deloitte Fast 50 Award for NZ’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies (2007), and most recently the Hitwise Award as NZ’s #1 Online Store in the Toy & Hobbies category (2008).
We operate in an environment where we have competitors, but we hope our passion for toys, books, games, baby gear and online retail in general shines through. Shane is passionate about toys, a curiosity which started in his childhood years where he had a fascination for interesting toys like Sea Monkeys, Microscopes, a Sundial watch - he even had a Six Million Dollar Man doll! Candace, our current Toy Buyer, was a huge fan of Sylvanian families as a child. Suzette shares a similar passion for baby gear and after raising our two boys knows just about everything there is to know about carseats, prams, breast pumps and other baby care accessories! Sally, our books buyer is an avid reader and her lunch breaks are often spent delving into the latest novel.
We are also fortunate to have an extremely dedicated and loyal team who are committed to providing you with great products and exceptional service. We are proud to have grown from a home-based business to now employ 12 staff in New Zealand and 2 staff at our branch in Queensland, Australia.
